PRESERVATION OF AUTHENTICITY, AESTHETIC AND WEALTH OF BIODIVERSITY

Project description:

We completed various contracts in the town of Nieuwkoop in the Netherlands over the years. We will continue to be working on nature restoration in this area in the future. Due to our contribution, many generations will continue to be able to enjoy this beautiful nature reserve.

Peat bogs were excavated, forested areas were cleared and several dams (double row of piles with fascine) were constructed for the Water Board.

For the Dutch LIFE Project ‘Nieuw leven in het veen’ [New Life in Fens] we completed activities such as cutting reeds and excavating peat bogs. This work was completed in cooperation with the Society for the Preservation of Nature in the Netherlands and the National Forest Service in the Netherlands.

The goal of this project is to improve the quality of mires and fens throughout the Netherlands. This is accomplished in various ways, for example by excavating old silted up peat bogs and deep-cutting reed plots with the ultimate goal of creating conditions for natural succession. Species that are inextricably linked to such areas are retained and protected this way.

The Space for the Round-leaved Sundew project was also carried out in partnership with the Society for the Preservation of Nature in the Netherlands. The goal of this project is to improve the quality of this mires and fens region. This is accomplished in various ways, for example by clearing forested areas and cutting reed plots, as a means of retaining and protecting the round-leaved sundew plants.
